My poor little laptop was out of action for a while there but I'm pleased to say that it's finally back up & running..! I did this simple sketch a little while ago & had a quick play with it adding in some pop colour & stitching. It's not quite there yet but I think I kind of like where it's headed.

Hope you're all having a lovely week so far..!

Here's a little mood board I've done showing some items I made & purchased for the wedding. The craft paper bag, the invites & the bunting flags all utilized a stamp I designed & had made. The 'love is lovely' design was kind of our logo for the day & thankfully it was very well received by all of our guests..!

I absolutely love the photo strips from the photo booth - that was by far one of the best things we organised for our guests to enjoy. The booth was always occupied & we now have hundreds of amazing photos of each & every person that helped celebrate our day.

That's all for now - I hope you're all having a great weekend..!

At last - I've finally gotten around to uploading some of our wedding photos. There were just over 600 to go through (crazy, I know..!) & these are just a few of my faves.  It was such a fun, amazing day & I love that these photos seem to really capture that.

There was a lot of DIY involved - I designed the 'love is lovely' stamp & used that on our invitations, lolly bags & also on about 100 metres of bunting we used to decorate the venue. I did all of the flowers, made the flowers for the boys' lapels & also made a bunch of cute photo props to use in the photo booth. I swear, the photo booth was absolutely the best idea ever - it wasn't empty all night.

Our ensemble was super simple - no bells & whistles here. I bought my dress online from JCrew & it fit like a dream. We bought Chap's suspenders from a local vintage store & I just love them - he looked so good..!

Apologies for my absence over the last few weeks guys, but I think I have a pretty good reason for being a little preoccupied as of late... As you can see in the above image, I got married..!

It all happened 2 days ago - I married my boyfriend of 5 years Nick (aka Chappy) in a lovely, simple ceremony at a local winery. After a slight initial hiccup where the car I'd hired to take my dad, my bridesmaid & I to the ceremony failed to arrive, the rest of the day progressed without a single flaw.

We were a little nervy about the weather but need not have wasted our energy - we were blessed with crystal clear, blue skies & a beautiful afternoon of sunshine. The winery itself is absolutely gorgeous - as soon as have our professional photos back I'll share them with you all. I can't wait to see the shots they got..! We had our guests release 100 white balloons at the conclusion of the ceremony which looked amazing, we also had some huge 1metre white balloons & some super cute photo booth props that were an absolute blast, so fingers crossed we'll have some stunning photos as a result!

We leave for our honeymoon tomorrow morning - we're heading off to Thailand for some much needed rest & relaxation, I'm pretty much beside myself with excitement..!

Just to finish up this post, I thought I'd mention that I've got some big plans for FJM over the next few months - a collaboration with one of my gorgeous fellow bloggers, some brand new illustrations I'm just itching to share & some other new ideas currently in development..

Have a fabulous next few weeks guys - I'll be thinking of you all as I sit by the pool with a cocktail in hand..!

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Okay, so this is one of my recent sketches. I'm in the process of trying to decided if to/how to colour it, but I thought I'd post an image of it with some brightly coloured confetti & stitching. I love the illustration itself so I want to do it justice by colouring it well & in the correct medium.

I'm not entirely sure why, but I'm just a teeny bit obsessed with confetti at the moment. I've never really used it, nor am I using it for my upcoming wedding but I bought a packet a while ago (the bright colours totally sucked me in) & since then I've started using it in designs, on gifts, cards - anything & everything I can. It's love, it really is & now that I've found it, I don't know what I'd do with it..!

I hope you're all having a lovely week. Mines been a little so-so, but I have a feeling it's going to get better very soon.

Oh gee, it's happened again - another sleepless night.

There's a fair bit going on in my world at the moment & I've always had a little trouble switching off at night.  I'm planning my wedding which is a mere 7 weeks away, I've had some family issues arise that have needed attention & the last few weeks at work have been challenging to say the least.

So I guess it makes sense that I woke at 3:30 this morning feeling a little restless & slightly amped up. After trying to force myself to go back to sleep for about an hour I finally gave in, got up & decided to make use of some free time. I did this little sketch of the girl & deer weeks ago so it was simply a matter of finding the right fabrics & tweaking the colour palette just a touch. I quite like the end result, so fingers crossed you do too..!

Oh, & before I forget - Happy Friday..! I hope you have a fab weekend.

I'm absolutely in love with this colour palette.

Perfectly paired back while still having a little oomph, the combination of the limeade, the pale peachy orange, pale blue & raspberry pink is just divine. I don't love this girl though -  I feel like she's a little too posed & plain jane

I generally try to draw silhouettes that are a little more interesting and quirky. On second thoughts, while I don't quite love her, I do rather like her... & I suppose sometimes the most simple things don't need to try that hard & can just be beautiful as they are.

Just a quick post of some more work in progress.

The sketch was a very quick one, hence the lack of detail but I really like the colour palette. It's nowhere near finished but I think I like where it's headed.

A sneaky peek of some of my recent work in progress.

I'm not entirely convinced sure that I love it just yet but I'm interested to see where it goes...

It's official - this would have to my absolute favourite sketch so far.

The model I've drawn is the beautiful, Swedish born Ebba Zingmark who, believe it or not, is only sixteen years of age. I stumbled across several of her posts on lookbook.nu about a year ago & I'm not ashamed to say it - I've been just a tad obsessed with her ever since.

She's one of those strikingly stunning girls who looks just as amazing bare faced as she does meticulously made up. She has an amazing sense of style & her looks are completely one of a kind. She has her own blog which you can visit here.

Within this sketch I love the contrast of colourful fabrics... the lime green vintage fabric of her dress is divine & I love the way it sits back with the bright, punchy orange & the softer, vintage blue. The addition of the sequins was a bit of a gamble but it's fun & playful & I like it a lot.

Anyways, I hope you've all had a good start to the week. Happy Monday to you all..!

Just another quick sketch.

It's quite a bit more girlie than usual but I kind of like the feel of the softer, prettier colours. I'm on the hunt for some bright coloured wedges, but not completely sure that pink is the most practical choice...

I'm loving Asos at the moment, & absolutely cannot go past some of Steve Madden's beauties. I've been doing something called 'No Spend September' which basically means for the duration of this month I haven't bought anything new - no clothes, shoes, jewelry, makeup, hair products, etc. It's been so, so challenging like you would not believe me but it's kind of empowering - my bank balance is loving it.

Hope you've all had a lovely week - only 1 day to go 'til the weekend..!

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

Just another simple sketch. I decided to use some stitching detail like I've done in the past - it's a simple touch but it makes the whole design a little more crafty which I like.

I'm really liking the combination of the large scale polka dots in white & pastel blue against the rich red. The whole pop colour thing is really getting to me at the moment, I just love it. Now all I need to do is work up the confidence to actually wear this kind of an outfit.

This is a sketch I did recently of my all time fave Australian model. I've fittingly titled it, 'I heart Jess Hart' & while the sketch itself isn't perfect, I'm kind of almost happy with it.

She's absolutely stunning & I think the reason she's my fave is due to the fact that she always seems to look so effortless & natural. My fiance had the privilege of seeing her in person at a work function & I'm so damn jealous it's not even funny.

I hope you're all having a happy Wednesday... Only 2 days to go till the weekend!

This is just another quick scribble & I have to say,  I'm loving the addition of the coloured circles. They just seem to lift the design & bring it to life for me. I love the colourway of this design but I'm no really sold on the pose... oh well though - I'll just put it down to another work in progress.

I'm working on a couple of different illustrations at the moment that I'm hoping to finish soon. It's actually really nice to spend some time doing some creative work that I enjoy. Don't get me wrong - my 9 to 5 job is nice & all, but there can be a distinct difference between commercial art & creative art... So yes - finally getting a chance to invest a bit of time in some more creative projects really is quite lovely.

There's so much colour around at the moment & I love it.

The three key colours that I'm crushing on are shown in the quick sketch above; I'm in love with the slightly highlighter-esque lime, the somewhat disco electric blue & the deep, vibrant magenta.
